Adults who enrolled in the health insurance marketplace

County: Morris
Measurement Period: 2017
This indicator shows the total number of individuals who were enrolled in marketplace plans between November 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017 with federally facilitated, partnership and supported state-based marketplaces (through HealthCare.gov), per 100,000 population.

Why is this important?

The marketplace is an easy way for individuals, families and small businesses  to learn about their health coverage options, compare health insurance plans based on costs and benefits, choose a plan and enroll in quality subsidized insurance without the help of a broker. It is particularly beneficial to individuals who don't have insurance, who make less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Level and who don't have access to employer based insurance. The marketplace makes coverage cheaper due to the competition created on the marketplace and access to cost-assistance. It also provides the only way in which Americans can apply for premium health care tax credits, and can be used to apply for Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
