Madison Health Department

We work to promote, protect, and assure conditions for optimal health for the Madison community through leadership, partnership, prevention and response.

Municipal Registrar: The Madison Health Department has two registrars that assist the public with birth, death and marriage certificates and marriage license applications. They also issue dog/cat licenses, retail food licenses and assist residents with any complaints.

Environmental Health: The Madison Health department has two Registered Environmental Health Specialists work to ensure that proper handling of food is maintained in all retail food establishments and investigate complaints from residents about housing, animals, noise etc.

Public Health Nursing: The Madison Health Department has a nursing supervisor who administers vaccines, investigates communicable diseases, promotes and administers health screenings and monitors immunizations in schools.

Health Education: Madison's Health Educator works to inform the community on current health issues and act as a point of reference for health education. Specific areas of focus are preventative efforts for drug and alcohol abuse, health lifestyle promotion and planning and continuation of programs in the community.
